Hi, my name is Lisa! I’m a wife, mom of two smart and spunky kids, a former CPA, and a self described home design/organization fanatic.
I started this blog in 2020 as a creative outlet, sharing organization and design tips for living in a small home. Through documenting how we lived and organized our 1,250 square foot rambler, I found peace and acceptance with the space that we had. No longer did I feel like my home was too small, or not something I could be proud of. I realized it was a space that reflected us as a family and showed the love that we had poured into every inch of every room.
Even though we moved in 2021 (don’t worry, the spaces in our new house are still small…) we continue to follow the same philosophy of updating slowly to make the spaces beautiful, functional and perfect for our family.
Why do I focus on small home organization? Honestly, I was tired of seeing only big houses represented in books, magazines and social media. Sure, it’s easy to make a pantry look great when it’s larger than my entire kitchen. Or a bathroom look serene and peaceful when it isn’t shared by every single person in your home. But that’s not how many people really live. Where were the real spaces? The tiny closets or narrow kitchens? What about the bathrooms without any drawers or the homes with no storage space??? Those were the real problems I wanted to help solve. To provide inspiration, resources and support to show that even if a space is small, it can still be super organized and functional for all who live there.
Here at Smallish Home I love to share organization tips, budget friendly finds, design tips for small spaces and a few fun DIYs. Because in the end, I think everyone should be able to live a beautiful and organized life, no matter how big or small their home is.
I believe that through creativity, organization, and clever design, you can create a space that you are proud of. One that supports you and your family and gives you a sense of calm every time you walk through your front door.
