We have all seen those spaces. Jaw dropping, organized, color coded, and styled. Every items has it’s own labeled box and nothing is out of place. But how much does it cost to put together an organized space? One that is not only functional, but also looks like it should belong in a magazine?
Well, I’m here to shed light to the cost of all those pretty, color-coded bins and baskets.
The truth of the matter, is it depends. You can spend A LOT of money to achieve that gorgeous, organized look, but you can also be budget conscious and get the look for less.
Let’s break down the cost of my budget friendly laundry closet organization. Now, this is a space that needed to be first and foremost functional for our family. We needed something that would store ALL our laundry and cleaning related supplies. Everything needed to be categorized, labeled and easy to reach. But, I also wanted it to look nice. I was looking for a feeling of calm every time I reached for a microfiber cloth or some paper plates.
I was able to get the look I wanted by combining clear plastic bins with rattan storage boxes and deep plastic bins with handles. I mixed high and low, using finds from The Container Store and Walmart. And in the end I LOVE how this space turned out.
OK, let’s get to it. How much do you think it costs to organize this space? Any guesses?
Here’s the breakdown of every item I used to organize this laundry closet:
(4) Medium multipurpose bins – 4 @ $6.99
(3) Large multipurpose bins – 3 @ $7.99
(2) The Home Edit laundry edit set – 2 @ $24.98
(2) Better Homes & Gardens Rattan basket set (I only used the smaller size from each set) – 2 @ $15.94
(2) Brightroom food storage containers – 2 @ 6.00
(1) Cludoo bathroom and laundry label set 1 @ $11.99
Total cost = $157.76
So tell me, did the total come in higher or lower than you expected? For me, it’s always surprising to see the breakdown and the total. I know that this laundry room could have easily cost me 2x this price, but by selecting quality budget finds I was able to get the look I wanted at a cost that I could afford.
And it’s always good to know that when you invest in flexible organizers, you can always rearrange or use in other parts of your home if needed.
